Intro to Robotics: Coding, Engineering, & Artificial Intelligence

Ready to start a journey exploring robots & AI? Jump into this introductory camp to learn the basics of programming, robotics, & AI.

WHY Artificial intelligence?

AI, is the future.
AI mimics human intelligence, allowing computer applications to learn from experience and algorithmic thinking.
Students who master the basics of artificial intelligence are set for the careers of the future and will be to control the processes that define life and work in the next century.

Students at Camp:ASPIRE

Inside the Camp
Students start by building and programming basic robots to do simple tasks and quickly progress to designing more complex robotic creations that will get them excited about engineering. Students learn the basics of programming by developing computational thinking skills through fun, hands-on exploration, and troubleshooting in the context of real-world scenarios.
Students work towards designing and building their own custom robot while tackling different AI concepts each day. This camp is perfect for students who want to learn the basics of robotics, coding, and AI.

Animal Robots: Design robots to mimic animal movements

Get out your binoculars! It’s time to use nature as inspiration for a robot you design, build, and program.

Animal Robotics relies on the foundations of biomimicry, which is all about using nature as inspiration for building objects, buildings, and even robots!

Why Biomimicry?
Biomimicry, at its essence, studies the successful strategies of survivors from the animal and plant world. Students who learn the basics of biomimicry can master strategies for everything from saving energy to dealing with environmental threats. Essentially, biomimicry is a pathway for students who want to help create systems that make life and work better for humans.
In this camp, students dive into the natural world to hone their observation skills, then translate the observations through a robot they design and program. During the week, students explore how biology, art, and robots can all be linked before they share their robotic creation on the last day. This camp is perfect for students who want to learn the basics of robotics, coding, and AI while thinking about how they connect to the natural world.

Robotics, Sensors, & AI: Build robots that interact with the world

Ready to see the world through the eyes of a robot?

Humans use senses to understand the world while robots use sensors to understand the world.

How are robot sensors different and similar to human senses?

This camp will help answer that question! Throughout the week, students build and program robots using multiple sensors to help build their computational and engineering design thinking skills while learning about fundamental AI concepts. Students will participate in activities that challenge them to think like engineers and solve problems using robotics and AI. The camp leads to a culminating activity where students design and build their own robot to solve an identified problem and create a presentation to showcase their invention. This is the perfect camp for students new to robotics who want to learn how to use robotics and AI.
